IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Mumbai; Orange Alert for Konkan and Pune Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday. Alongside, an orange alert has been declared for several districts in Maharashtra's Konkan region, including Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Pune.
Yellow Alert for Mumbai
The IMD's weather forecast for Mumbai for today and tomorrow indicates "heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places" under the yellow alert. The city's temperatures are expected to range between a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius. The forecast also mentions "generally cloudy sky with moderate rain" until July 28, with wet conditions predicted to persist until July 30. Over the next five days, temperatures in Mumbai will hover between 23 and 29 degrees Celsius.
Orange Alert for Konkan and Pune Districts
Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Satara, Ratnagiri, and Pune. The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) reported via social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that "Mumbai recorded moderate to heavy rainfall at most places in the last 24 hours." The RMC also indicated that the Konkan districts are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain at isolated locations.
Forecast for Other Regions
Additionally, the weather department has noted the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the Ghat region within Madhya Maharashtra. The districts of North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are also expected to receive heavy rainfall at isolated spots. Furthermore, the Vidarbha districts are forecasted to experience thundershowers, gusty winds, and heavy rain at isolated places.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions due to the anticipated heavy rainfall and associated weather conditions.
